Herbal Companions
The importance of planting various herbs for butterflies and other pollinators.
Dill is an early spring herb. It companions almost everything in your garden.
Sprinkle seeds and it grows. If you let it grow to seed. It'll volunteer the next year.
Fennel is a foe to most herbs and veggies. It's an herb that only has a few friends. I put her in a pots for the Swallowtails.
Does anyone know the other herb butterflies love? Hint: It starts with a "P"!

Milkweed Saves Monarchs
The importance of planting milkweed for the endangered Monarch
This year left me shaken by lack of Monarchs. They need our help!
It's critical that you know when and how to properly collect Milkweed. Don't go picking pods if you don't know when to pick them.
If you are not an entomologist Please, do not raise Monarchs at home. It's considered "backyard breeding".
All you can do is collect native milkweed this Fall.
Plant milkweed and as many pollinator seeds, you can this Spring.
Those actions will make meaningful change for the good of nature. We can only interfere so much. Nature prefers to do her own self-care.

An Herbal Beauty
A bee’s favorite color is lavender. Purple Coneflowers are daughters of Ohio.
The purple is called a "Purple Coneflower" or "Echinacea". Cones are native to Ohio and most of the United States. They bloom in early Summer. Essential to any veggie garden. The bees are wild for this native plant. And the butterflies aren't complaining either. Perennial. Cones don't bloom the first year, as a rule. If planted by seed.
Joy And Light
The joy of a Monarch butterfly
The zinnia is my signature flower. During their long blooming season. There always something beautiful to witness.
It’s an instant dose of joy.
Joy and Light. I understand both are dim right now. Remember to everything there is a season..
The flowers disappear over Winter, but they always return in the Spring!
